On January 1st, 2007, Lions of the Heart celebrated its seven Year Anniversary as an Everquest guild; although technically you may note we had the founding date as 12/31/1999 Lions of the Heart actually had a short incarnation on the Tarew Marr server for a few months previous to being restarted at the creation of the Xev server on the Tarew Marr/Povar server splits. We had a few technical difficulties back then during the server transfer and resubmitted the guild for creation on Xev. Our home changed a bit once again upon the Druzzil/Xev server merger. The premise of the guild in its founding was as more of a roleplaying guild. This was back when paper and pencil tabletop fantasy gaming was still quite strong and many of the EQ players came from this background while others were from fantasy style muds and such. Roleyplaying has become less of a focus over time and, to be honest, the online game formats such as EQ don't lend themselves to it as well as I would like. What we have focussed on was maintaining a guild of good people first, good raiders or EQ players second. We have tried to keep the guild friendly to the casual gamer without mandatory raiding and in ensuring that when raids do occur that all who participate have a fair chance at items. This is not an easy policy as there is definiteily some merit in the fact that some put more into the guild then others whether by nature or simple ability to commit more gametime. Lions of the Heart will continue to evolve and change as time goes on and Everquest matures.
