WHO BELONGS IN LION'S OF THE HEART

It is not our intention to become the largest guild on Xev.  What we are looking for are fun loving, kind hearted people who would enjoy playing Everquest in a relaxed enviroment free of dood speak, harsh language, vulgarity, begging, hate mongering and the like.   We would like to play with the same people that we would invite into our homes and entertain.  That we would be happy to introduce to our kids or have our kids play with, to hang with in school and share things with knowing they wouldn't be spread around.   We are primarily a guild of older players in the 25+ range but that is not an exclusive thing.  Members of all ages are welcome as long as they are mature and respectful of others.  It probably sounds pretty boring for some   people and thats okay.  We have a mixed group when it comes to goals and how we will achieve them in Everquest. Some of us a more driven then others on epics or going to new zones.  Some want to level faster then others  and some slower.    Overall we try to empahsize one concept and that is that we want to have fun on the journey not just at the desitination.  This means we want to take time to enjoy the game.  Our fun isn't about getting their first or being the most powerful.  Yes we like to improve our gear and levels and become stronger and do more and see more.  But we try to balance this with simply taking time to enjoy things.

You might wish to take a look in our General Discussions forum.  Here you will see posts about things that members have experienced playing Everquest.  We encourage members to post about the day's events so that other Lions and friends of Lions can get a glimpse into what we are doing on a day to day basis.  Feel free to browse and post or comment on things.

We are willing to give people a chance who we have not had a lot of time to play with.   But we also accept that we have a responsibility to our members to ensure that anyone joining Lions does not detract from the fun and relaxing experience that is Lions of the Heart.   We are not the guild for everyone nor will we try to be.   There are a lot of good guilds out there that are wilder and more free with guild chat then us.  And that is a good thing. Diversity and the ability to choose is the way it should be.  All that being said, we do like to joke around and be crazy or silly at times.  Its just not in a rude or hurtful way.   It is expected that officers and members actively intervene if things go overboard.  We are all human and sometimes things go further then they should or sometimes someone is just having a bad day.

If you don't seem to fit in we will talk with you about it.  First impressions are not always true and that works both ways for the guild's impression of new members and a new member's impression of the guild.  If we see problems we will talt to you about it and we hope you will do likewise.  In EQ we communicate by the typed word and sometimes things come across wrong.  Sometimes situations occur that people only see a part of.  We talk it out.  Occasionally it may be that the match is just not right.  A person may join and later leave or we may ask someone to leave.  This is not a condemnation of you or of us. Its just the reality that we are NOT the guild for everyone.  And thats okay ;)

Lions of the Heart is NOT the American Auto Association AAA.   Sometimes a person will come to us and say that they would like to join us because they want to be in a guild where they can get help when they need it and so they can help others.   Occasionally this means that they want a guild who is like a service.  Anytime they have a flat tire someone is going to come fix it.  Any time they are lost someone will always give them directions.  And in payment they help others.   Which sort of sounds good  except we don't do things for what we will get nor will we ALWAYS be there for you.  Its a game we all play and we are not a service being paid for.  We are a group of friends.   Yes we help each other and we help strangers too.  But its done because we want to and when we want to.   Sometimes you just have a busy day and want to play on your own or in a group and you do not want to go ress someone in another zone.  Thats okay.  When something is EXPECTED of you or is REQUIRED of you it is not something done or given freely.   You cannot mandate, coerce or force friendship and comraderie.  It comes natureally through getting to know people and share experiences together.  It is not good when someone tells me they have helped on occasion A, B, D and E and only gotten help in return once by the guild.   The guild members are not there to be bought with favors nor are they there to buy your help with favors.   The guild is there to provide a relaxing enviroment where we can get to know each other better and form friendships.   And yes, in general we are friendly and  helpful people but it is not a guild rule or law that makes it so.  Its done of our own freewill at our own times we choose.

Lions of the Heart is not a Welfare or Social Assistance program.  We do not powerlevel or twink our new members.  We leave it up to them to level and equip themselves through playing the game. DO NOT join the guild and tell us you lost all your equipment because your body vanished and ask us to help you out.  Do not ask guild members to give you special deals on gear, do not use the guild as a captive market for the things you want to sell.  Don't ask the guild for any items they are not using.    Begging is simply not cool. When a guildmember wants to OFFER special prices to members they will, when they want to buy something they will ask if anyone has it for sale WITHOUT asking for a special deal.  Yes, sometimes we all fall on hard times and need some help and that is what you go to your friends for.  Those friends may well be guild members but not all guild members are your best friend.  Some are mere aquaintances, some you never see because of time differences.  The guild gives you a better chance to get to know people and become friends but simply being in a guild can't make everyone your best friend.  The guild is not there as a bargain basement sales centre nor an insurance policy against you losing all your equipment because you quit the game with an unlooted corpse two months ago.  We are there to give a group of players of similar interests and viewpoints a BETTER CHANCE to BECOME friends and to get to KNOW each other.  This isn't something a guildinvite automatically bestows.

HOW TO JOIN LIONS OF THE HEART

Very simple really. Get in contact with some of the members and see if you can spend some time hunting with them. If you are easygoing, friendly and kind hearted you will get along with our members.   You can also visit our Ezboard forum Want to Join Us? Post Here!! Tell Us About You and write up something about yourself and what you are looking for in a guild.  Someone who leaves a post "I want to join you guys" hasn't put much thought into things.   We are willing to give people a chance who we have not had a lot of time to play with.  But we also accept that we have a responsibility to our members to ensure that anyone joining Lions does not detract from the fun and relaxing experience that is Lions of the Heart.   If you don't seem to fit in we will talk with you about it.  First impressions are not always true and that works both ways for the guild's impression of new members and a new member's impression of the guild.
